Everyone has their own personality. Their own DNA make up with different traits and attitudes, which makes us different and unique. But in this world, people tend to hide or put up different facades for the public to show off a different them. Well, this hurricane season did not care if you have a different appearance to the public or not. This hurricane season came to show us the real colours of everyone. The Greens, The Blues and The Purples Too. During the last month, the island (Sint Maarten/ Saint Martin) has been going through the rebuilding stage after the disastrous hurricane Irma. This month has been an eye opener for me. Personally, I realised that there are so many things that I need to get right with in order for me to live a prosperous life. I’ve experienced many more set backs that I wasn’t expecting and it just added another emotional weight to my already clouded mental state. It is crazy. However, analyzing the public response to rebuilding the nation, there are two set of persons. The ones that are ready to risk everything to help and the ones that are ready to risk everything to cause destruction. I’m appreciative of all the military help that we received, efforts from our local Red Cross (Fun Fact: Red Cross Caribbean is honestly the best thing ever.... Red Cross International... Ehhhhhhhhhh), even to local businesses, community and youth councils, the utility company (even though my lines are still chilling in my yard) and the government of the island for trying to get things back in order. Unfortunately, there will always be those set of persons that are willing undermined the work of the people to create havoc on social media platforms. Always. Here is where you see the other side of folks. The persons who are always complaining about this and whining about that are the same ones that sit on their high chairs saying that they are so great and wonderful and do so much for the community. And I’m here looking like Yuh sure padnuh man? They are the ones that usually fill your Facebook timeline (thankfully I don’t be on that) with negativity about the development of your country. They are the ones that need a hard back hand slap. ......... In ending, we as a country, and as region are continuing to push through post Irma and Maria. We are getting their with the necessities but places like Dominica Puerto Rico and the USVI are still in serious crises mode. As a community, help out as much as you can. Hopefully the colours you see are appealing to the eye Make sure to follow us on twitter and instagram @islandgalting for future updates and interactions.
