The Jamaican dancehall singer, Ishwana has a remix to Ed Sheeren’s Shape is You, entitled Equal Rights. The song is quite explicit, but if you listen to it, that is the main definition of Feminism.
Feminism isn’t a movement that was created to bash men. It was created to uplift women. From the beginning of time, the woman was always inferior to man. Men had all the ruling positions where the women were used as wives and to produce more offspring.Nice. Women always had to be poised, respectful and be mindful of how they act, while man can be complete savages to boost their manliness. This lead to women feeling used and different strains of toxic masculinity. Now many people, especially males, feel that feminism is all about bashing men and truly I give them no wrong. When you have the bootleg, "quite white" type of feminism that hates everyone in mainstream media such as clit on the sidewalk or activists such as Taylor Swift, it can get overbearing. However this doesn’t mean you can not do your research. Persons need to understand that living with a vagina in this world is extremely hard. For us living in the Western Hemisphere and the “developed world”, we have an advantage over those who still heavily practice their cultural norms. Young girls aren’t encouraged to go to school and get an education; they are usually married off at a young age for financial reasons, forced to bear children at a tender age; are human trafficking and still have to work to support their families. Feminism is there to make these types of problems known to most and push to see how we can help save these females. It is very heartbreaking to see how the world still has such backward ideologies. So when you hear women say men are trash, we aren’t generally hating on men relationship wise. Those who view it from a relationship stand point just need to reevaluate the type of men they date. When you hear certain folks say men are trash, it is addressing the years of oppression the woman has gone through when it comes to fighting for equality; how toxic masculinity still fuels society and how the everyday life has somewhat become a burden because of restrictions implemented by men.
